sun tzu
Sun Tzu or Sunzi was a Chinese military general, strategist, and philosopher during the Zhou dynasty’s Spring and Autumn Period. The name he is best known by is an honorific meaning “Master Sun”: Sun Tzu was born as Sun Wu and known outside his family by the style name Changqing. He is traditionally credited as the author of The Art of War, an extremely influential ancient Chinese book on military strategy.

If you are far from the enemy, make him believe you are near.

Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak.

Supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy’s resistance without fighting.

Can you imagine what I would do if I could do all I can?

Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.

A leader leads by example, not by force.

To know your Enemy, you must become your Enemy.

You have to believe in yourself.

Opportunities multiply as they are seized.

There is no instance of a country having benefited from prolonged warfare.

He who knows when he can fight and when he cannot, will be victorious.

Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.

Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.

Convince your enemy that he will gain very little by attacking you; this will diminish his enthusiasm.

Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected.

Regard your soldiers as your children, and they will follow you into the deepest valleys; look on them as your own beloved sons.

Begin by seizing something which your opponent holds dear; then he will be amenable to your will.

He will win who knows how to handle both superior and inferior forces.
